| The police department is sure that something odd is happening in a new exotic dance club for women where men are the entertainers. Detective Zach Longstreet is assigned to go undercover and find out exactly what is going on. He is interested in women but not in commitment. Ciara Donovan, the daughter of a newspaper owner, has always known that her father wanted a son. She has done the best that she could all her life to make up for not being the son that he wanted. Now that she has fulfilled her part of the bargain and worked as a reporter, she wants him to allow her to run the business office as he promised. She is going to try to get one more big case-the exotic dance club for women. Will Zach and Ciara work together at the club and build a case against the owners?
Dangerous Defender was an interesting book filled with mystery, blackmail. love and sex. Zach and Ciara were never quite sure who or what the other was doing at the club. They have interludes of hot sex, even though they are confused about what's happening. I found the plot to be a little confusing at the beginning, but eventually I was able to catch up with the plot. I thought that Ciara was rather wimpy and would have liked her to stand up to her father. Zach was equally distastefully to me. He was not a particularly interesting character. I did enjoy their sexual encounters. There were many secondary characters, some of whom were better written. I enjoyed the maze of plot throughout the story and followed it eagerly. I was able to start figuring out the mystery close to the end. I wonder how many readers would be able to figure it out.
