| Darien had only his job, that of being a Guardsman, where he was hoping for a promotion. He had lost his last lover to his job. Complaints of never being home had led to the break up. But he had been poor so long he just wanted enough for him to be able to survive and afford a few extras like hot water and a mug of ale. That’s how he finds himself guarding a tame vampire for a promotion: a vampire with his mind set on seduction; a seduction Darien could not let happen for fear of losing his job and quite possibly his life.
Dante’s World 3: Tale of the Night by Willa Okati is a seductively passionate story about a vampire and the person set to guard him. This is a story filled with passion and humor. Darien is a man who wanted to be loved and to love. He also needed enough money to survive in the world. To earn the money he had to work long hours and that cut out of his time spent with a lover. Although he felt bad about not being home and not sharing enough time with his last lover, he would not have changed what he had done. Ayden was sexy and everything physically Darien could desire. That causes two problems: he could not let others know he desires members of his own sex; and he could not have sex with one of the unclean. Ayden does everything to provoke Darien and at times I found his antics funny. He is a devil and a tease. When Darien does give into his desires they share some very steamy and quite explicitly described encounters. I loved the ending: after all the difficulty of trying to hold back from giving in to the seduction, things change. What exactly changes is up to the reader to find out but I loved it just the same. Dante’s World 3: Tale of the Night by Willa Okati is a passionately erotic vampire story that will definitely stimulate the imagination.
