Jasmine has a received an envelope with a letter she thinks is sent to her, an address and an ancient brass key. When she finds the place the key opens with the help of a young man named Lucas she also finds the fountain that has been in her dreams. Beside the fountain is an injured man named Hayden. As she’s helping him they fall into the fountain and end up in another time that is partly old, partly futuristic. The story he tells her and the world she finds herself in is beyond even her wildest dreams.

Kimberly Adkins has given us a love story that spans dimensions, times and stretches reality. In essence, she builds her own world with warring societies. The Order of Darkenbane crosses time but has promised not to interfere with the worlds they live in. The Brotherhood of the Bane thinks they can do whatever they want with people in the time they travel to and from. It seems Jasmine and Hayden fall somewhere in the middle, leaning more to the side of those who don’t mess with time. They just want to fall in love.. Jasmine very obviously wants to fall in bed with the studly Hayden. Every time they get close something or someone interrupts them.

There are a lot of characters playing their parts in the tale. Some like Cordelia and Ference are just nasty or jealous or both. Jasmine has never known her real parents. She gets to meet them along the way in Hayden’s world.

I had some fun reading this even though there were times the number of characters was overwhelming and I really had to work to concentrate and keep track of what was going on. It takes a little of my enjoyment away when a story gets too complex. I think Ms. Adkins had fun with this tale. Some parts are really funny, some are sad in a good way.
