| Lexi Corvin is a bounty hunter and a werewolf-witch, skillful and strong in everything she does. A week before the full moon is hard on werewolves, especially when they are cranky and have the strong urge to mate, and she is no exception. For seven centuries, Darius has been locked away, held hostage by his goddess mother, Sekhmet. He is needed on earth to restore life essence. Sekhmet doesn’t approve of his brothers living on earth fornicating with human females. No matter how strongly Darius protests about his brothers being grown, Sekhmet doesn’t listen. He loves her deeply but refuses to be bound in her prison eternally. Something goes awry and Darius is released but in the process loses his immortality. His mother doesn’t know how it will affect the rest of his powers. The first time Lexi gets a glimpse of Darius, he is vaguely familiar. It was during the Calling. He appeared for a moment, in her scrying flame, but his handsome face had been distorted in pain. She is instantly drawn to Darius but their relationship doesn’t immediately hit it off. He wonders how far he can go with her before she puts a stop to it. Lexi tries to fight her urge for Darius. He is strongly committed to saving the world. With a turn of events the two can no longer fight their heated desires, but one thing could immediately ruin their love, the dreaded curse.
Immortals: The Darkening is a very entertaining read. The world the reader is carried into is so imagery one cannot help but get caught in the moment of events. I could almost picture Lexi and Darius’ expressions when he starts removing his clothes for the first time and she stops him. The moment and their conversation is priceless. Lexi is strong, determined and feisty. I really like her attitude. Darius is more than just a handsome hero with his tattoos. Robin T. Popp crafts a fantasy so rich, so romantically wonderfully, it captivates the reader. Get ready for a breathtaking adventure that delivers with every turn of the page, in this fast-paced tale that continues with a series one should not miss.
