An ancient and insane vampire is loose in Denver and his target is vampire psychologist Kismet Knight. The madman is determined to make Kismet his slave. His previous slaves have been left as soulless husks and both Kismet and her lover, the powerful master vampire Devereux are determined to prevent that from happening. Devereux’s overbearing tendencies may just send Kismet directly into danger. Add to this a narcissistic ex-boyfriend determined to become a vampire so he can be a star on cable T.V. and a trash journalist determined to be her friend and her life might never be the same, that is if she survives.

This is a pretty fresh take on the vampire romance. Kismet counsels both the undead and those who wish they were. Her lover is gorgeous and attentive if a bit overprotective which drives Kismet crazy. He is sure that she is his true mate, but she isn’t willing to make the ultimate commitment quite yet, leaving herself open to Hallow. Hallow is as sexy as he is insane and is unable to believe that anyone can resist him. Maxie the reporter is a strange character, a writer for a trashy newspaper, suspiciously eager to be Kismet’s best friend. Victoria the Wiccan receptionist of Devereux’s building is a great character with lots of layers. Luna the vampire P.A. is creepy and hostile throughout the story. The plot itself is full of twists and turns and great action and love scenes. The author uses some unusual settings that really enhance the story. Overall, this is a story that will be very difficult for the reader to put down and a great addition to the series.
