Sierra McIntyre has started her life over in Crystal City. The youngest daughter of a socially prominent family with unusual paranormal talents, she ended her engagement to a young executive when she caught him with someone else. Now she is a tabloid reporter for a paper that is a strange combination of truth and the absurd. Several juice head former hunters are missing and Sierra is sure that the local Guild has something to do with it. The new leader John Fontana is a bit of a mystery, especially when he offers to help Sierra in exchange for a Marriage of Convenience. The excitement is only beginning.

Ms. Castle has another winner with this very engrossing story. Fans of her Ghost Hunters series will definitely enjoy this trip to Crystal City and new readers will not be lost as happens in some sequels. I also liked the connection to the very popular Arcane Society series. Sierra is a fascinating character with a paranormal talent that does not rely on the omnipresent amber. Her intuition about people and situations make her a valuable commodity, but she wants to be wanted for herself. Fontana is the leader of a very powerful Guild, but still feels inferior because his parents were not married. Their investigation of the missing ex-hunters, the drug they are addicted to, and the dangerous biker gang is very intriguing and exciting. The relationship between Sierra and Fontana is a bit different and definitely held my attention. The other characters are vivid, interesting and sometimes a bit bizarre. I particularly liked the very colorful dust bunny Elvis and his costumes. Ms. Castle’s futuristic stories are always enjoyable and this one is one you shouldn’t miss.
