After finally dealing with the situation that sent him into hiding centuries ago to protect Catherine, Javier vowed to search for his only love. Finding her as a slave to a fey king, with a fey lover, did not sit well with him. He doesn't care about her mission, only having her back as his lover. He also needs her to help him get vampires allowed back on the Council. Can he fight the glamours and magical manipulations of the powerful fey king? Can he get her back? And this time, will it be forever?

In a delightful blend of modern and ancient, immortals and humans, Ms. Rock's story delves into mystery and magical political intrigue that could destroy the whole of the Immortal Realm. I was impressed with the way the author kept to the skills and limits of each immortal species, leaving them more vulnerable than powerful at times, leading to increasing dangers for Javier, Catherine, and her Fey partner, Talen. The characters acted “in character” throughout the story so it was intellect and planning, rather than some contrived magic power, that helped them survive. The story is fast paced and moved quickly from one crisis to the next. Great concept, plotting and delivery.
