Colt's wife went missing a month after they were married. He hired an agent from Scotland Yard to begin an investigation. What he finds has him cursing all women. His wife had been living as a mistress to a duke and has now died from consumption. This leaves him free to return to his ranch in America. There is just one thing left to do and that is to get revenge against the man that stole his wife from him. While riding recklessly he almost runs over a young woman. He does not have the patience to deal with anyone and orders her out of his way. Aggie will not be ordered about. Could this man not tell she was a lady? Colt decides if she won't move, he will physically move her and does just that. Aggie all the time is screaming and calling him every kind of son-of a-chicken. Colt cannot believe what his ears have him hearing and breaks out laughing. This just adds to Aggie's temper. How dare he, with his handsome face laugh at her. Aggie just wants a ticket to America to avoid marrying the man her parents have picked for her. Now her time has been wasted dealing with this man. That is just the beginning of Colt and Aggie's experiences together. For they will meet again and thus begins their wild adventure into romance.

Trusting a Dark Stranger by Kelly Renea is an exciting adventure that will have you laughing and cheering out loud. Aggie is a strong girl that is just stubborn enough to get what she desires. She can ride, shoot, and fight as well as many men. This leads her right into some interesting situations. She is very strong in some ways but very vulnerable in others. She has never been in love. She finds herself drawn to the handsome Colt.

Colt has experienced betrayal from one woman he thought he loved and he is not willing to make himself vulnerable again. He has a very sad history and has not experienced much happiness in his life as he tries to keep from falling in love. Fight as hard as he will though, the chemistry is there and he keeps fantasizing about the beautiful and spunky Aggie. He seems to always be rescuing her. In one instance she experiences a near rape so be warned there is some violence in the story.

I loved this story because here are two people who are vulnerable and needing to be loved. They find in each other just what they need. The romance is sweet with an underlying passion that sparks whenever the two come together. Colt will either kill or kiss her, he has decided. Through the author's descriptive writing the reader experiences a wide range of emotions. There is romance and adventure, as well as humor that will keep your attention. I loved all the references to chickens and the reason Aggie uses the chicken in her curses. I feel that this is a historical romance that readers will regret not reading and I highly recommend it to all.
