Nora Hunt is on her way home from college when her car breaks down. The she-wolf enters a nearby pub to make a phone call home and smells a strange male wolven. She decides to run home in wolf form runs into trouble only to be saved by the same male she scented. Ryland Keegan is the Alpha of a pack of rogue wolves and already has more problems with women than he wants to deal with, courtesy of his late and insane brother. Nora is a much bigger complication, his True Mate. The rogues in his pack have a very dark past and are a danger to a woman like Nora. He is not confident that he can keep her safe, especially when members of the pack start dying.

Dark Succession is a very engrossing tale. It had me hooked from the first chapter and did not let me go until the very last page. Nora's past could have left her completely damaged, but in reality only made her stronger. I loved that she was unafraid to stand up for herself in a place full of very scary characters. Ryland is doing the best he can, but has a lot of issues himself. The women hostages and their situation are a huge complication. I sympathized with them for what they endured, but for the most part they were pretty unlikeable with the exception of Mary and Sarah. Diane completely confounded me. The pack is pretty unstable at best and Ryland and Brogan may be the leaders, but there is not a lot of loyalty among the wolven. The plot is pretty suspenseful and there are a few pretty neat plot twists to keep you thinking. The best part is that the story isn't completely over yet.
