"Star-Crossed Love, Martial Arts, and Supernatural Evil meet at the Abandoned Tracks in the Deceptively Quaint town of Middleburg."

Ignatio has just moved to the small town of Middleburg from California and the last thing he needs is to be anywhere near a gang but when Nass becomes friends with Raphael, the leader of gang called the Flatliners, a group of misfits from the wrong side of town, Nass founds himself in the middle of a new kind of gang war. Raphael has falling in love with Aimee who just so happens to be the sister of one of the members of the Toppers, Raphael's rival gang. And if that wasn't bad enough the war to end all wars has just started between these two gangs. That's when they all realize there's more to this town than meets the eye.

This was totally different than anything I have read lately or maybe even ever. Much like the character Nass, it was hard for me to take the gangs in the middle of nowhere seriously but they surprised both of us. There were only a few things about this book that I didn't like for lack of a better word. The beginning was a little slow and I found myself kind of bored. The paranormal aspects of the book didn't come into play until much later. And it was really long but I understand the need for information and the building of the plot.

I found the book to be really well written, the team of writers have a very unique style and a very detailed plot. A lot happened in this book, the point of views changes a lot and you get a better understanding of the characters. We were introduced to so many characters and they actually made the story feel whole, every character was necessary no matter how small. You really understand their lives, fears, and way of thinking. We got to see what each character was made of when really put to the test. The story was action packed and once it really got going it didn't let up. This was a great start to a series. I was pleasantly surprised by Dark Territory, and I'm looking forward to reading what happens in book two!
