When a nightmare becomes reality Emily McAllister tries to cope with the death of her best friend the only way she knows how. She wants the police to find her killer even though they're blaming it on an accidental drowning. Sgt. Mark Thurgood has a fear of the ocean that incapacitates him. One scared cop plus one determined woman means he doesn't stand a chance. When her horrible dreams show her in the same plight as her friend was the two manage to work together.

Kristin Miller pens a tale as dark as the cave the villain uses for his evil deeds. Villains are disguised as good guys and sometimes the bad guys aren't all that bad. It's hard to ferret out the evil doers from those who just seem to get in the way. Or sometimes the bad guys just show up at the right time. This one will keep the reader guessing in a very good way.

Character building is excellent. We fill a little bit sorry for Mark, especially those of us who have fears others don't understand. Emily has the kind of courage we can only envy. The two together set off sparks like only the best hero and heroine will do. We keep hoping Mark may resolve his fears but even the threat of losing his job doesn't do it for him. Officer Robins is Mark's right hand woman in the police force. The story is better for the transition she makes from besotted female to a valuable police woman. This is one of those tales few will want to put down before all the questions are answered.
