| Best friends Anna and Winter could not be more unlike, yet they are close as sisters. Winter {who changes her name periodically} was the offspring of roaming hippie parents, raised communally. She still believes in the environment and in experiencing free love. Anna, on the other hand, is uptight, wealthy, with a silver-spoon existence, who prefers order to Winter’s chosen chaos. When Winter talks her into becoming a contestant for Date with Destiny in order to win a new SUV to replace the one she’s lost in a collision with a tree, Anna agrees, with reservations.
When she freezes on stage after becoming the winner, Anna wins not the SUV and Jet Ski, but instead, a cruise for two, all-expenses-paid. This isn’t an ordinary Pleasure Cruise, either; their new stateroom partners are were-panthers looking for permanent mates with human females who are strong enough, emotionally and physically, to be transformed into immortals. Date with Destiny is a light-hearted approach to campy game shows and the travails of immortals. All its characters are a delight to behold, and the sensuality will heat up the reader’s blood in the meantime. Michelle M. Pillow and Mandy M. Roth create a fine collaborative team, and this reviewer considers that the series is well worth reading, if Date with Destiny is an example.
