Crested Butte, Colorado was a quiet town nestled at the base of Pike's Peak and the perfect local for the luxury hotel the Kinncaid family was opening. But among all this beauty and friendliness was a secret, a beast that prayed on young women. When the urge took over the beast scoured the shadows until he found his next victim.

Aiden Kinncaid arrived a day early to oversee the renovation of the Highland Hotel since the workers were behind schedule. Little did he know that he was about to meet the woman who would change his life.

Jesslyn Black had just pulled off the road and into the parking lot of the Copper Dine a local bar and grill to say hi to her friend Maddy. After exchanging friendly banter with Tim she looked over at her friend Maddy who seemed a bit out of sorts. Seems her on again off again boyfriend Kirk was once again giving her some problems, the newest one was sending her white lilies. Since it was close to closing time the women moved their conversation to the parking lot and continued not knowing that they were being watched.

It wasn't after they had gone their separate ways that Jesslyn noticed that she had forgotten to give Maddy her birthday gift. She circled back and headed toward Maddy's home. She came on her car and the horrible discovery her friend was dead, covered in blood. Hearing footsteps she turned and saw a dark figure run passed her knocking her down and running into the woods. What followed was a mass of lights and sirens that echoed in the night air and the reality that her friend was dead, with Jesslyn the only witness to who had done it.

I won't give away the rest of the story but I will say it gives the reader not just romance but a great who done it and with an assortment of suspects it will be interesting when the beast is revealed to you. I really feel this book deserves the rating I gave it if there were ten hearts I would have given it that. Ms. Clark has given this reviewer a novel that has kept me engrossed until the end, and for that I thank her.
