| It’s Carolyn’s first Halloween alone in more than twenty-two years, and the anniversary of her first date with Tim, who recently dropped her for a young thing. Expecting only distraction at her neighbours’ massive Halloween shindig, Carolyn learns instead that Tim and company are expected to put in an appearance, so she’s ready to run. Tim has his own reasons for leaving the wife he’s loved for two decades, but unfortunately he hadn’t chosen to share his reasons with her, so he moved out and she’s still depressed. Tim is stuck with a girl barely older than his two daughters, and wondering how he came to be in this predicament. When he shows up at the party and tries to talk to Carolyn, they end up making love, and still fighting. There seems to be no middle meeting ground for communication, until a group of Goth wannabes performs a spell in the local cemetery, raising the dead with a vengeance.
Eve Vaughn delivers a hot and sexy Halloween number with a touch of humour and a good deal of hearttouching situations. Any reader will empathise with the travails of Carolyn and Tim and will thrill and chill to the advent of the brain-scooping zombie clan. Dead Man’s Party is a great Halloween tale and a re-reader.
