This is one-smoking hot, sensitive must-read! Everything about this story was fantastic. I love the tone and the pace. I also love that the story takes place in the first person through Luz's eyes. Our heroine is the type of woman we all long to be -- a survivor. The author handles Luz's situation with a sensitivity and finesse that brings a disturbing subject matter to life without exploiting sexual abuse or trivializing it. The love scenes are handled with such raw sensuality and compassionate tenderness. Jude is dark, dangerous and deadly. He is also devoted to Luz. I love my heros with a huge dark streak and this sexy blond vampire is one of the finest I have come across. As someone who suffers from panic attacks I wish I had my very own ingenious, paranormal calming influence. For a story full of angst and unhappiness, I found it very uplifting and sensitive while still being extremely entertaining. If you like your happily-ever-afters just a little on the dark side this is definitely one for you! I'm so happy this author has a dirty mind and shares it with the world. She is definitely on my must read list. This is one story I'm positive I will read over and over again.
