David Bishop has been alienated from most of his friends after a court martial ended his career with the RAF. The death by suicide of the father he admired left him open to any job with enough danger and adrenaline rush to keep him from feeling anything. He wants to do just one more job and then retire from his undercover work as a mercenary. The last assignment get more complicated than any in the past when a traitor within the ranks of the Counter Terrorist Arms Unit and the terrorists they deal with threaten the life of Chantelle Duvall a gutsy, gorgeous pilot he¢s falling in love with.

Lynne King builds an action packed suspense yarn that stays exciting throughout. The romance is a topsy turvy one as the two lead characters differ on the fine art of lying. David does it naturally. It¢s part of being a spy. Chantelle finds it hard to trust a man who lies for a living. When their feelings for one another control their doubts it¢s magic between them but their nagging mistrust of one another throws a wet blanket on it over and over again. It¢s especially difficult when Chantelle keeps being put in the middle and has to fight for her life.

Ms. King makes this a heck of a story filled with totally vicious bad guys. She¢s gifted with her writing and manages to give us a few lighter moments that keep the book balanced. The secondary characters help fill in the details and help us know the things David is dealing with in his life. Chantelle is a tremendously courageous player no matter what fears she has to overcome. This book pulled me in and kept my interest riveted to the tale from first page to last.
