I can’t begin to tell you how delighted I was with this book. Ms. Carter created a hero and heroine I adored from the beginning. Tiny, the outwardly bad-boy demon, and Cassia, the deceptively human-looking booty-kicker, were a treat. They know beyond a shadow of a doubt they don’t belong together -- vampires and demons just don’t mix -- which makes the attraction, and ensuing problems, that much more interesting. They’re colourful, surprising at times and just plain enjoyable.

The sly humour and descriptive passages left me wanted the book to go on and on. In particular, the manner in which Tiny, Cassia and the world they inhabit were revealed with little tidbits of information along the way just made the story come to life. The dialogue flowed—in turns snarky, sultry and amusing—as did the plot, which was right for the length of the book without overshadowing the relationship between the hero and heroine. This is in many ways a fairly simple tale, but one told with good-humoured style and panache. That flair, along with the easy way we are drawn into the character’s world, makes it a gem.

Be warned, the sex is explicit and extremely hot, and includes one scene with some exhibitionism but, in my opinion, was in keeping with the story and none of it gratuitous.
