| Jan McKane tried to keep her mind on the road as she made her way in this storm. The rain and wind were pelting her car as she slowed down watching other cars seem to speed by. Her mind was on the recent passing of her father. Tex McKane was more than just her father, he was her business partner, the driving force behind McKane and McKane Investigations. With
her thoughts off the present she was shaken by a jolt to her car, regaining
control she started moving again and then another hit sent her off the
road.
She awakened some time later in the hospital to the barrage of questions from a police sergeant and a Cole Hardin who claimed to be her husband. Someone had tried to killed her yet she had no idea who or for what reason, nor did she remember any husband. Looking at Cole Hardin it would be hard not to know a man like him if he was her husband. Released in his custody Jan tries to find out more about their so called marriage yet Mr. Hardin is very evasive. When her home is broken into more than once and no valuables are taken it appears that the individual was after more than just the run-of-the- mill items. They were after Tex's files. The question is why and who? The more Jan and Cole worked on the files trying to piece the information leading up to the day of Tex's death the closer they become. Though it started as only a job to Cole he was becoming very close to this woman. Keeping the cover of their marriage the two set out to find the answers. For those of you who love a good mystery, and this one has a real plot with a twist, this is the book to read. Enjoyable and yet it does give you the real meat of the story without a lot of fluff. I enjoyed it and hope you readers will also.
