| Deidre Roux has just turned sixteen and her powers of premonition are getting stronger. Her parents are worried about her, and her twin borother Charlie is very protective. Charlie has a habit of falling for the wrong girl -- Deidre would just like to interest any normal guy.
She's never even told her best friend Amy about her gift. She's gotten a bit of a reputation as an oddball at school when she trances out and then runs to rescue some creature she senses is in danger. Her tingling temples have never been wrong, though sometimes the message isn't crystal clear. Now handsome Mark Cummings has transferred to Deidre's Waco, Texas, school. And her Auntie Mae arrives in town, writing a fictionalized version of a criminal's life -- a criminal related to Mark! Now Dierdre and Mark are out to thwart the real bank robbers and maybe get together for the big school dance. There's some real danger in this story of first love, although at times the author makes some staggering leaps of logic. I was confused by the fact that Deidre's loving parents left her alone at the hospital after she was attacked late at night. And some of the details about Diedre's fear of elevators seemed shaky. But the mystery was neatly resolved and I'm sure early teens will enjoy Wilde's tale of romantic suspense.
