| Gillian is one of the four Caruthers sisters. All four are popular heiresses to the public and live a secret life as Guardian Keys to Earth. Gillian’s job is as the Assassin, or the one who tracks down the beings who enter her world from other dimensions. Used to dealing with these demons on her own while retaining diplomat relations with other worlds, she knows she needs help when Earth is invaded by too many demons for her to handle alone. As she gets to know Arath, the new demon king, she learns secrets about him that even he doesn’t know. His help is invaluable when fighting off the dark demons invading Earth.
This first book of the series will grab your attention and keep you entertained throughout. Gillian and her sisters are fun-loving, wealthy, and maybe slightly spoiled by their adoring public. Gillian is the perfect alpha female, well trained and able to take care of herself and others. Arath, the demon king, has many responsibilities and very strong powers that Gillian has never seen before and that sparks her curiosity about him. His good looks don’t hurt either. When I finished reading the book, I thought how strange it was that Arath and Gillian didn’t seem to spend lots of time together. Their attraction was more reserved because of who they are but it was no less powerful. This book was a great start to the series and I’ll look forward to reading about the next Caruthers sister.
