| Menolly D'Artigo the owner of the Wafarer bar and an agent for the Otherworld Intelligence Agency discovers a diary from a bartender that went missing a couple of years ago and suspects something went wrong. At the same time, some kind of strange creature is attacking and killing people from the Sup Community and leaving no discernable marks. When one of the creatures attacks Delilah, the D'Artigo sisters and their friends have to hurry if they are going to save Delilah from what appears to be some kind of demon. Then there is the necromancer that moves in nearby and someone seems to be forming a group to try to curry Shadow Wing's favor in the community. All is not alright in the world…
I have been enjoying this series with the three D'Artigo sisters and their friends but this time I'm really disappointed. The underlying story is still good with the group trying to stop the bad guys and keep the world safe for supernaturals and humans but for my taste the book has gone too far away from normal relationships in the romantic elements. For a mainstream fiction book, I am not comfortable with the multiple partners and the inability of any of the main characters to have fulfilling monogamous relationships. But what pushed me over the edge this time is the lesbian sexual relationship developing between Menolly and one of the other characters and that even with this relationship the two women plan to still have sex and relationships with men. It is one thing to mention that they have a relationship; it is another thing to have a descriptive sexual encounter in the story. If this was an erotic book and advertised as having material that may be offensive to some, then I'd be fine because I knew it was there or I would have opted not to read it. But I'm very unhappy to have this occur in a mainstream book with no warning. Even though I liked the main theme of the story and would have liked to have read the series to completion, I do not like the direction the relationships in the books are going and will no longer be reading the rest of this series.
