| Charity has been on the run since earth had been overrun by aliens and taken over. The aliens were brutal, and at times seem to be wiping out any trace of humanity on earth. The last couple days have been intense, and now she’s caught. When she see’s who captures her, she can only hope her death is quick.
Melmanon is shocked and angry when a human manages to evade him for over 6 days. He’s not used to being thwarted, and never thought that someone like the female would be able to evade him for so long. As punishment, he’s decided that instead of just killing her he’s going to take her on as a torture slave. Demon’s Captive was a fantastic story that has a lot going for it. I could really understand and feel what Charity was going through, which made me sympathize and hope everything turned out for her. The character development was great, Melmanon is a brutal man and not a character you think you can ever like, but somehow Stephanie Snow manages to make you understand where he comes from and like him anyway. Charity is in a tough spot, and it was interesting to see how she reacts and what she’s thinking, and to watch her gradually fall for her master while she struggles with her conscience. It’s definitely not for the faint of heart, Melmanon is not easy on Charity at times, and the punishment he gives out for a relatively minor infraction was pretty brutal. What I found interesting about that part was that somehow the episode gives you a lot of insight into Melmanon’s own internal struggles for control so it was vital to the story. Demon’s Captive is a wonderful, intense read that will keep you glued to the page until the last word is read. It definitely shouldn’t be missed!
