| Shana wanted to see the Wolf Demon that had been captured, so she’s found herself in the dungeon, looking at the wounded animal. It took many people to capture it, and when she sees it she feels oddly drawn too it, especially when it speaks in her mind. She doesn’t understand why they feel they must kill it, and the more she thinks about it, the less she agrees with the sentence. When she gets back to the house, she finds out that now the time has come to marry the man her mother wants, but he’s old and she had found herself wishing for more. It doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen for her, so she is dutifully giving in. As her last act of defiance, she decides to find a way to free the wolf before he is executed.
Ashrin can’t believe the predicament he is in. They would have never captured him if he hadn’t been distracted, now it looks like he might not be able to escape. When a woman comes in to see him, he finds himself oddly reluctant to rage at her like he has all his other captors. He finds himself attracted to her, and when she comes to release him, decides to ask if she will go with him. The story sounded like it was going to be exciting, but unfortunately the characters just didn’t resonate with me. I was particularly disappointed in the relationship between Ashrin and Shana, it didn’t seem like they particularly cared one way or the other for each other. It was just a convenient relationship for both of them. I always like to have passionate characters that would do anything for each other, and in this case I didn’t feel it. There was little interaction between the two, and what there was didn’t really connect them together. The story had a promising beginning, and I would have liked to have found out more about Ashrin and his people they sounded very intriguing.
