Lou comes home to find his sister Jenny has committed suicide after her fiancé calls off the wedding. He is devastated. When he meets Madeline she reminds him of Jenny and he is determined to protect her. Corey first meets Madeline when she is only 15 years old. He does not realize her age when he becomes attracted to her. She disappears and he goes five years without seeing her when he sees her perform in a New York ballet. He knows he loves her and cannot think of anyone else who he would rather spend time with. Corey does not understand because he thought the attraction was mutual. When next he meets her he means to get some answers but accidents begin to happen. Will they be able to discover what or who is behind all the accidents or will they be forever separated?

Descent Into Danger is a story that takes place over the span of many years. I found it a little slow in the beginning and a little hard to become interested. I mistakenly thought the book was very predictable. Which goes to show appearances may be deceiving, for there are surprises ahead for the reader that is patient. The romance existing between the two main characters is based on chemistry. There is an attraction that is described and goes about to become a passionate relationship. The dialogue is well written and conveys successfully the thoughts and emotions of the characters. The settings are described in detail making them easily imagined. The sex is described explicitly and is steamy and stimulating. Of course I thought the best part is when Corey and Madeline discover the truth behind all the accidents. The story is filled with colorful and interesting characters. For a story that will be sure to surprise read Descent Into Danger by Shannon Greenland.
