|Haley Preston is a world renowned interior designer with a very successful firm. Betrayal by her lover and good friend caused her to lose confidence in herself. She sells her firms and runs home to Tennessee to start over again. Michael Flannery is a handsome architect who is drawn to Haley, despite her initial standoffish attitude. She seems familiar to him, but he can’t quite place her. She is determined to hide her past, embarrassed that she was duped by the man she thought that she loved. She is also determined to protect her heart, but Michael is slowly finding a place there.
This is a well-written and entertaining contemporary romance. It is a little farfetched that someone as famous as Haley would be able to hide her identity, especially to someone who is virtually in the same field, but I enjoyed the gradual growth of love and trust between the two main characters and the ups and downs of their romance. Both Haley and Michael are likable and realistic characters. I sympathized with Haley’s situation and loved Michael who is exactly what she needs. The author does an excellent job of contrasting Haley’s old life in New York with her new life in Tennessee and it is obvious where she belongs.
