| Vladimir Von Tirgov wanted nothing more than safety from the hand of President Ceausescu, but instead finds death in the form of two pointy fangs. Befriended by a gypsy, Vladimir returns home to his pregnant wife Emelia and his two-year-old son Michael. He is forced to live in the bowels of his own castle like a prisoner. Not long after Emelia has a terrible accident and stands on the brink of death. The thought of loosing his wife and unborn child are too much for Vladimir to handle. He passes his curse to Emelia just before the delivery of his second child, a daughter named Arianne born half human and half vampire. Upon her birth Emelia’s sister Mira is called to the castle from America. When Mira arrives she finds that her dear sister and brother-in-law are vampires. Fearing for the children’s safety Mira flees Romania with the children to raise as her own in America. Michael is placed in an orphanage for his own protection and Mira raises Arianne alone. Twenty-one years pass before Arianne finds out the truth about her parents and her own dark curse. Time passes on and Arianne becomes a doctor. When her fellow colleague and mentor is murder, Arianne is faced with truths she never knew existed. If she doesn’t give into her vampire side she will surely die, but can she let herself fall into the murky depths of a life as the undead?
Scarlett Dean has written a fabulously romantic and mysterious vampire story that keeps you guessing from page to page. With twists and turns at every corner, Ms. Dean makes you question everything and everyone. Will Arianne give into her dark side and complete the vampire cycle or can she find a way to sustain her humanity and mortality? Not to mention the sixty- pound wolf she keeps for a pet! I was completely spellbound from page one. I found myself mesmerized by the plot and stunned by the outcome of every chapter. Don’t assume you know anything as fact until the very last page reveals its stunning secrets. Even the epilogue will leave you with a smile on your face and an “I knew it” in your thoughts. If you are looking for romance, mystery, murder, and horror then look no further. I recommend you get a copy of Destiny’s Call as a treat for you mind.
