| Merkun is a pleasure slave that knows his stuff. He has decided to be the best at what he does, but as a boy he always wanted more… freedom. He’s resigned himself to his fate, and now that he’s a man he’s the most sought after pleasure slave in his mistress’s brothel. When he’s visited by a woman from his past that had helped him, he makes sure that she knows how much he appreciates her gesture from before. Amista can’t afford to buy him, but is so impressed by him that she decides to give him another chance at a better life, and persuades his mistress to enter him into the annual pleasure slave contest, one of the most brutal and highly competitive contests on Kasmalia. If he wins, his life gets better… but if he looses, he looses everything. Did she help him? Or make the situation worse?
I’ve got to say that this story has a lot of twists and turns that I didn’t expect. It’s one of those stories that will leave you thinking about it long after you are finished reading. Merkun is a complicated character who grabs your attention and doesn’t let it go until the book is done and beyond. The characters came alive for me, and while I was at times disappointed in Merkun’s choices, the book was written so that I understood why he chose as he did. The sex is sometimes brutal, and the competition is not garden variety, it’s more of an endurance contest. Devarian Pleasure Slave is a stand alone story, but once you read it you will definitely want to pick up the rest of this series, its well worth it. I thought that Devarian Pleasure slave was a fantastic story, and one that shouldn’t be missed!
