| Julianna had been married once before to a man that only wanted her for the land she held. Now she's determined to marry someone who will love and cherish her. Julianna could wield a sword and fight better than most men to the great displeasure of her brother Roger. He already has a marriage set up for Julianna to one of his allies and doesn't care about what she thinks even though she despises who he chooses. Her father decides to give her a choice, marry the man Roger has picked or marry Lord Rhys Adington. Julianna comes up with choice number three, run away. Julianna knows that Rhys only wants the land she has and that's why he agreed to marry her, even though she's attracted to him she has no intention of marrying him.
Rhys came to talk to Lord Baldwin about the land he wants, he was intrigued by Baldwin's daughter and wanted her as well. He never expected that he could solve many of his problems with one solution, specifically marrying Julianna. When Julianna runs away Rhys is determined to have her at any cost, he abducts her to his castle where he plans to convince her that they are meant to be together. Rhys's idealistic dream is broken when Roger shows up to take everything he holds dear. When the reason for Roger's intense hatred for Rhys is revealed and the plot really takes off. Action and adventure all rolled into one extraordinary book. Rhys is the strong and arrogant man determined to get what he wants no matter what it takes. Julianna is an even stronger woman unwilling to let any man control her life. Together the couple finds a love that will last forever, but first they have to defeat the enemies that threaten their happiness. The love scenes are few, it's more of a traditional romance than erotic love story, but if you like the romance aspect then you'll love this book.
