This is definitely not light reading as we travel through the story as Phillippe. He’s a rather stilted, snooty, aloof character at first. But, as the story progresses and he has to feel the repercussions of his actions he becomes much more human and humane.

Desiree Erotique has given us the eroticism that her name promises. Throw in a little BDSM, F/F sexual activity, magic and really weird demons and it’s quite a story. The baddest of the bad is Aniceo, first born of a demon who turned himself into a hermaphrodite to father his/her own children! As her characterization of Phillippe starts to act on his feelings instead of his intellect, he’s helped in his quest to bring Tatiane back to his arms and the bosom of her family by members of the community and Tatiane‘s grandmother.

From intellectual snob to superhero is quite a jump but the author does it well! She maintains the suspense when Phillippe goes to slay the demon. He’s steeped in lust when he meets with Aniceo. Will his love for Tatiane prevail? The author gives us the answer and a very satisfying scene when Phillippe makes his decision.

Great word pictures of the people, the places and the scenes as they unfold really make the book an enjoyable horror story and love story.
