| Once again we visited Orchard Hill and the dueling matchmakers, Pansy and Misty. The only thing fiercer than their competitive natures is the fact that they are involved with family members of the other. What a breath of fresh air these two women bring to each of these stories. While each of these stories is easily stand-alone, I’ve been blessed to read them from the beginning and in order.
Joseph and Harmony were introduced to us previously, but could be brand new to you and you would still love their story. Joseph was a widower with three teenagers and triplet nieces who were temporarily staying with them while their mom, his sister, was in rehab. The triplets were known as the terrible triplets and deserved their reputation. Harmony had moved to Orchard Hill some months before to escape her past celebrity-like status. She hadn’t made many friends. She stayed alone much of the time while she was writing a cookbook. She purchased a house with a great kitchen. Then Joseph moved his family into the house next door. As soon as I discover that Ms. Kara Lynn Russell has another Orchard Hill book out, I rush after it. Her books are inspirational, but not preachy. They present the characters as humans who have their own problems and challenges. Joseph and Harmony were polar opposites but they had an attraction. With six children as well as other residents of the small town, this book is quite lively. The actions are quick, witty and yes, sometimes comical. There are a few more kinks which take the book out of the ‘expected’ and lend important glimpses into the lives of her characters. I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants a fast-paced, uplifting storyline which will leave you smiling. I’ve found that anything with Russell’s name on it is a keeper.
