Pamela Wentworth leaves her past in Connecticut and makes the journey to Maine to begin a new stage in her life. She needs to break away from the mindset of her family and friends. Since she doesn't share their ideas about the society she lives in, she is forced to take this major step. Knowing the area from her visits as a youth make it the perfect choice for her new job as a grade school teacher. Once she meets again, friends and neighbours from her past, and a few new faces added to that, she begins to enjoy that small town feel all over again. Her newest neighbour certainly gives her a rush of feeling and neighbourly isn't quite the word for it.

But there are secrets hidden behind their budding relationship and it puts a very strong burden on the two. Communication should be the key here and they need to be more open with each other. Sad to see that two people who really need each other can't quite get it together. Bravo that Pam can at least admit to herself, she has feelings for him, even though it is thoroughly against her upbringing. The fact that she wants to do something to show him she cares is a major starting point.
