| Damon Carhart isn’t very happy when his usual vet isn’t available to take care of his dog Dixie when she gets kicked by an ornery horse. He doesn’t think much of Eric Vann until they start working together to help his dog. By the time they’re done with Xrays and everything Damon has changed his opinion. He feels something different with the other man that draws him.
Deirdre O’Dare builds a great story of a current day rancher who uses modern conveniences to care for his ranch and stock. Damon is still a throwback in some ways to an old fashioned country cowboy who lives for his ranch, the animals and people he’s known all his life. His life isn’t easy, especially since he loves the work and keeps himself busy from dawn ‘til dusk. Change doesn’t come easily for him. His feelings for the Vet are something he really doesn’t know what to do with. But with the help of his housekeeper’s very forward granddaughter Brandi, Damon and Eric break the ice with a ménage. Ms. O’Dare builds an excellent, sensitive story of two men finding one another under unlikely circumstances. Even better, they’re both willing and able to talk about it, discuss their feelings. This is a great love story in a western type setting that’s really worth taking the time to read.
