| Dr. Liv Olney is determined to rescue her friend, Jill, from the clutches of an African warlord. To do this, she needs the help of Gerard Delaney, a former Army ranger in exile after a court martial stripped him of everything. He's the one who rescued her and she knows he can do the same for Jill. Reluctant, but finally willing, Del accompanies her and a team of Rangers into Africa. They not only fight monsoons, but warlords, all while encountering a great deal of danger. At first, the Rangers both resent and distrust Del, but during the course of the rescue effort, learn just what kind of man he is. Liv cannot forget Del was the one who rescued her seven years earlier, and Del is certain her feelings for him are nothing more than gratitude for the rescue. On the way, they discover their love for one another, but will Del survive his kidnapping and torture so they can be together?
I found it impossible to put down this book and read well into the night, or should I say early morning. The author has crafted an amazing story s filled, not only with wonderful characters, but with never ending adventure and danger. Liv is a caring individual, one the reader can't help but admire, all while pulling for her to succeed. Her courage and tenacity show throughout the story. Not to be undone, Del is also an amazing character, one with strong feelings he'd thought forever lost or hidden. Much maligned because of the past, he does so much to redeem himself, not only in the eyes of Liv and the Rangers, but the reader. The author has made the settings as realistic as any I've ever read. The emotions of the characters, both the leading ones and supporting, are masterfully brought out, the love scenes beautiful.
