AJ Dawson, Sophie Sinora, and Krysta Richards are not your typical teenagers but they want everyone to believe they are. These three girls became friends years ago when they discovered that they had something in common. Each of them has a special “talent” that if other kids know about it they would be considered freaks so the girls banned together for support and promised to never tell. AJ gift is prophetic dreams and they always come true. Her latest dream predicts the death of her brother. Can she get her mother who always thinks Mike is perfect and never acknowledges AJ’s successes to believe her?

I enjoyed the story of Don’t Tell Mother, the second book of the Whispers series. AJ and her friends have normal teenage problems with friends, boyfriends, studies, and parents but they also live life with a twist. AJ has a terrible dilemma to face, how can she convince her mother that she is telling the truth and save her brother’s life? She also has to deal with what is a “normal” teenager and does she really want to be normal? In this tale, Ms. West really brings home the point that normal is subjective and not the same for everyone. This story like the first book of the series is appropriate for teenage girls. I don’t think boys would enjoy it as much. If you like young adult fiction filled with all the angst of the teenage years, you won’t be disappointed in this book!
