Courtney James has just barely existed for the past two years since her husband, Ronnie, was killed in a NASCAR accident. She moved to Sister Bay, Door County, Wisconsin, because at the death of a dear friend, she inherited (she thought) a cabin and a business which she named Courtney’s Sports. Her younger sister, Lisbeth, and her seven-year-old son Andy, were planning to spend the summer with Courtney and help in her business. Several of her friends tried to talk her into returning to her hometown and giving up this dream.

Lincoln Spencer, known to his Aunt Amy as The Great Chicago Lawyer inherited her cabin and half interest in her sports shop. He would retain half ownership until Courtney paid off her down payment for the business. He was involved with a Judge and his socialite daughter, Georgie Burns. His ideas were to go into politics but he was unaware of how much it would cost him for that endorsement. His interest in Courtney went far beyond business. However, with Georgie and Lisbeth both vying for his attentions, it was almost impossible for him to spend time with Courtney.

Nancy Sweetland has written a great novel about a couple in their mid-thirties who were destined to be crossed in romance. Both characters were strong and interesting people. However, when they were together, they seemed to struggle with their personal identity. The secondary characters were pivotal in developing this plot. From the shady characters surrounding the judge to that spoiled rich daughter of his, it would be impossible for them to not be influential to the storyline. They were at times scary, but always crucial parts of the book.

This fast-paced, suspenseful book held my interest completely. I had trouble putting the book down. When it was completed, the story lingered in my mind. There were so many ups and downs that it would be impossible not to like some part of the book.

I recommend that you read this sensual book. You will not be sorry. I look forward to her next book.
