Emily Mayfield, a concert pianist, played her final concert. She had one more goal—to tour a mansion in the English countryside. Unfortunately, she collapsed during the excursion. Cancer had finally claimed her life. But she awoke in a strange bed, an unusual room, dressed funny, and looked entirely different. She didn’t remember anything from her past. She certainly didn’t know why she had a maid and a daughter and, apparently, a husband she couldn’t stand. The feeling was mutual.

Viscount Barnaby Westmere was surprised when his wife awoke after such a long time. He didn’t know she had no memory of who she was. All he knew was the horrible way she had treated him and his daughter. He knew of her multiple affairs and he constantly was the target for her acidic tongue. The only way they could abide each other was to stay away from each other. He couldn’t understand why, all of a sudden, he was drawn to his wife. She definitely was up to something.

Ms. Jo Barrett has written an incredibly interesting book which told a tale that was hard to believe. It was so poignant that it ripped my heart out at times. The characters she wrote were developed so well it was as if I lived next door. The fact that the little girl was involved showed the extent of her love for both her parents. It also proved too hard for her to ignore that her mother really cared about her.

The contributing characters were believable and made the main couple seem more in need of love and understanding. The emotional toll was heart wrenching but well worth the read. The ending was surprising. I didn’t expect the happily-ever-after that I wanted to see.

I certainly recommend that you read this story. The sensuality was classy and non-offensive. This is definitely a book for all genres to enjoy.
