| Jesse and Audra both take a dare that throws them together in a complex relationship. Lust at first site hits them hard. Jesse fights it because he thinks she could be involved with criminals and he may have to arrest her. She tries to maintain her bad girl image and keep things loose and fun between them to protect herself. At the same time both work to earn respect in their careers.
Tawny Weber weaves an excellent love story with people working against the odds to find their niche. Jesse is shown as a strong man trying to be better than his father was as a cop and a man. Audra has tried all of her life to be a bad girl to fit in with her friends only to have the author show us her core of caring. Will the author let her continue to cling to that image her friends want her to maintain or will she break out and become her own person? It’s such a fitting twist to the story to have an ugly tie both the center of a criminal investigation and one of the things Audra uses to try to break out of the lingerie design rut she’s in. Ms. Weber fills the tale with twists and turns, with wit and truly fun dialogue to help it keep moving along at a fast clip. There are so many well done secondary relationships with friends and family that Jesse and Audra are done just right without being overly mushy or the only focus of the story. This is a well written, easily read tale that was hard to put down.
