| Prince Bren of Xicanth has vowed never to marry. For one, he fears the destruction his dragon, and other half, Tynan, could do to his wife and secondly, the woman he has chosen as a match has been rejected by his dragon. When he attends a royal party and is approached by a courtesan, Bren is surprised when Tynan announces her to be his mate. Bren spends the night sating his and his dragon's long standing sexual needs. The next night, he is amazed when Tynan claims a different courtesan. Bren repeats this process yet another night and believes he must be going crazy to have claimed three separate women.
Keene is a shifter. She can turn into the form of any person she wishes. The Shifter Guild has assigned her the task of seducing Bren in order to obtain important information yet each time Keene attempts to seduce Bren she finds herself overwhelmed with his intense virility and her mission is unsuccessful. However the Guild must complete their mission, no matter what the cost and it appears that Keene will bear the ultimate responsibility to ensure their success. Dragon's Rise is the third installment of Ms. St. Clare's dragon series, and it is just as compelling as the first two. Ms. St. Clare is an author who never disappoints. I could not stop reading until the end as there was always some new twist or discovery. Bren's brooding and intense personality will delight true fans of alpha heroes. His connection to Keene is instantaneous and steadfast, reaffirming true love and devotion. I loved the way Ms. St. Clare was able to tell a story within a story, as Bren and Keene battled outer and inner forces in order to form a solid future. Dragon's Rise is definitely a keeper!
