Unfortunately, Jazzlyn has other ideas and the disappearance of her cousin to solve! To his dismay, she also has a half-elf ally who ensures that Kirill has to remain in the human realm long enough to learn how to claim and keep a human mate.

This is the fifth instalment of the Supernatural Bonds series and it is recommended that the other books are read in advance although Strong has created a strong enough plot to carry this story as a standalone. There is a good balance of suspense, humour, and sensuality in this novel and the attraction between the protagonists was immediate and searing. Kirill was an especially lovable hero as he developed from a grumpy, chauvinistic, and virginal dragon to a proper mate for Jazzlyn. Strong also created a sympathetic character in Jazzlyn as she learns to break out of her shell of extreme shyness.

The majority of secondary characters in this book are from the previous books in Strong’s series and thusly, they were probably not as well developed as they could have been due to possible reliance on the earlier stories to beef up their characters. However, this does not detract from the story itself as Strong gives us just enough comedy and plot to satisfy. The bedroom scenes unsurprisingly is the core of the novel and they were skilfully executed with gleeful carnality and appealing undertones of tenderness.

A nice fast-paced read!
