| Jack was an orphan child from South Wales who lucked into an American university scholarship and then built up his own real estate empire, a far cry from his formative years. Success isn’t perfect, though: Jack doesn’t sleep, his physician can’t help, and now he’s seeing a specialist to find out if something can finally be done for him.
In order to solve the insomnia and the missing three months of his memory about the time of his move to the U.S., the new therapist examines Jack’s repetitive nightmares in which he views himself as re-enacting the theme of the song “Puff the Magic Dragon.” Once the new therapist suggests a turn of aversion therapy by sending Jack on a return visit to his homeland of Wales, Jack falls deep into a dragon dream in which his beloved Puff has aged and is nearly decrepit. All Jack can think of to try to save him is to love him and to make love with him. Lena Austin offers the first installment in a series with this very touching, heartstring-tugging, and enriching tale. The m/m intimacy is explicit but nevertheless very tastefully written; and Jack and his friend “Puff” are well-developed characters who immediately inspire the reader’s empathy. This reviewer is definitely looking forward to further entries in this series {and quickly!}
