| In the grips of World War III, North America has become a single country in an attempt to repel invasion by Chinese forces. When scientist unexpectedly discover a portal leading back sixty-five million years in time, they believe it might be the only hope for survival by providing raw materials essential to win the war. Prime Minister Edsel Thurran believes, Tucker Jackson, a war hero, awarded both the Medal of Honor and the Victoria Cross, is the only man capable of leading the expedition. A former special forces operative, with the training from both an Apache warrior and ninja masters, Jackson has been on the run from the government since he escaped from a military prison. His proven ability to survive in the wilderness undetected makes Jackson the perfect candidate to face the unknown elements and creatures in existence in the age of the dinosaurs. Jackson agrees to travel through the Portal with the 2nd Marine Raider Battalion led by Major Ronnie Sinclair. As Jackson and Sinclair begin to train and prepare to cross over, they learn of government conspiracies and cover-ups that could be more dangerous than the threat of attack by the Chinese forces. Dragon Soldier is a fast-paced, exciting adventure. The tightly woven plot, mystery and action-adventure drama had me hooked from the first page. This is a science fiction thriller with some romance, the plot does not focus on the development of the love between the hero and heroine but on the dangers they face. With government conspiracy theories and plots reminiscent of the X-files, the twists in the book continued to surprise me until the final sentence. Mr. MacGregor brought the story to life with his vivid descriptions and tense action-packed scenes that had me sitting on the edge of my seat, biting my nails in trepidation. Be warned though this book contains vivid descriptions of violence including torture.
