Rory is from small town, St. Antoine’s Parish, Louisiana. He's constantly underestimated because of his southern accent. But even he can’t fault anyone for thinking him just a little bit slow when he travels across the country to meet the creator of his favorite graphic novels, Ran Yamane. Rory has always been drawn Yamane’s work and feels a connection he just hasn’t felt with another human being, even if he hasn’t met the artist yet. Thinking Ran Yamane is a woman, Rory is more than surprised when he finds out otherwise. Attraction takes hold nevertheless. But Rory discovers that this attraction just might get him killed.

Z.A. Maxfield is at the top of my favorite authors list. Having been first introduced to Ms. Maxfield’s work with Crossing Borders, I have been hooked ever since. She certainly doesn’t disappoint with Drawn Together. Drawn together is a story about two men who are drawn to each other in ways that are unexplainable. The story starts off predictably enough, however things quickly become very unpredictable and stay that way until the very end of the story. An unpredictable storyline is to be expected with Ms. Maxfield work though. Also to be expected are likeable, relatable characters. With Rory’s Knight-in-shining-armor complex, who can’t help but fall in love with him right from page one? Rory is a constant surprise through out the story, always doing things even the reader doesn’t expect. Yamane can hold his own as a great character as well. Yamane is small but feisty and his choice in clothing just makes him more distinct and likeable. The relationship the two men develop over the course of the story and the twists and turns it takes makes reading Drawn Together a delight. All of Z.A. Maxfield’s work comes highly recommended by this reviewer. Drawn Together is just her latest masterpiece.
