| Though her dreams are filled with romance with a loving man Carmen Tavarez-King is worried. She can't help wondering if she's putting her love life on hold while wrapped around a dream. It seems so real. Nicodemus tells her he's a Dreamscaper, a guardian that keeps demons from crossing over into the real world. She doesn't want to believe him but how could she be dreaming that kind of information? All too soon she finds out that Nicodemus is telling her the truth.
Lani Aames crafts a tale that could be a little frightening. Carmen's dreams are so enjoyable, how could so much great eroticism lead to something bad? Thankfully the author crafts her storyline with a solution to the problem that's even better than dreaming. The villainous Dr. LeSeur and the ugly shadow demons are definitely not the kind of things I'd like to dream about or see walking around the world. Ms. Aames' scenario building brings the creatures and, luckily, the handsome Dreamscapers, into focus in a way we can see easily in our mind. She seems to give us plenty of material for fantasy in some erotic scenes and battles that are as vivid as a picture. The author does a great job building her characters and dialogue to keep the book fast moving to a sweetly romantic conclusion. It doesn't seem like this is part of a series but I wouldn't mind seeing more written about Carmen, Nic and Leviticus.
