| Janelle has no interest in men—apparently they all cheat. Her ex cheated on her with her former best friend. Now her boring life was all work and no play. Since she had relocated, she left all her family and friends behind. Her work was her life...until she met a man online.
Jake was in the military and he could not forget about this woman he’d never met. He didn’t want to get involved with anyone after the crazy Lauren he dated previously. She still showed up frequently. He even dreamed about Janelle. He asked her to meet him in person but she refused. They managed to get together quite by accident. Shortly after their initial meeting, he received orders for a year in Iraq. I have never read anything by Stephanie Barmann. This book, however, has given me a great impression of her. I would not call this just a historical novel; I think it has a paranormal aspect throughout. I have never read a book written this way. It was effective and I really enjoyed it. The characters in this book were exciting. I was fascinated by the plot and her delivery of the storyline. The main couple was endearing. The supporting cast was so realistic. The way she wrote the alternate story was unusual and spellbinding. There were highs and lows which caused the couple to face their difficulties with determination. I recommend this book to all. It was a sensual, heartrending book about finding true love and overcoming obstacles.
