Vivica Blake is a fantasy writer with writer’s block. Her bad luck seems to follow her onto a senior citizen’s tour of Britain, booked by mistake. She’s always wanted to write romances, but wasn’t any good at them. Lynne, one of the more lively seniors on the tour convinces her otherwise, so she gives it a try. This effort is no better than any of the others, but the tour stops at a town called Foggy Bottom, coincidentally the scene of most of her fantasy tales, and she has to take a look. Vivica finds herself in the place she has created, and some of her creations are not happy about what she has done to them, particularly, the vampire/mage Rez, and the Scottish hero Hunter Gray. One wants to kill her and the other can’t decide whether to kill her or bed her.

Ms.Verone takes the reader to a vivid fantasy world full of vampires, shape shifters, skin walkers, gargoyles, and the like. The character, Vivica, has to make her way in the world that she created, finding that she hasn’t allowed for every circumstance, and that the creatures in her books do not always live happily ever after. She falls in love with her unfinished romantic hero, and together they try to save the world of Foggy Bottom. In the process Vivica learns much about herself. The characters are wonderful and sympathetic, even the villains. I easily pictured Foggy Bottom and it’s residents, and just couldn’t stop reading the story until the end. Great story.
