| Vanessa Wallace is a grad school student studying mechanical engineering. She’s busy studying and working for Mr. Rob Taylor most of her time. However, in her free time she likes to let the plain and shy Vanessa disappear and in her place is Vanessa, the femme fatale, the woman who isn’t afraid of letting her sexuality out. She enjoys dressing up and creating sexy scenarios where she is a vibrant and scandalous seductress. Everything goes awry however when Mr. Taylor catches her in the act.
Now that Mr. Taylor knows the kind of woman Vanessa is, he’s not about to let her retreat back into her shell. He’s going to expose her desires and control her fantasies. Now Vanessa has entered a whole new ballgame that she’s not sure she is ready for. Let the seduction commence! Elliot Mabeuse creates a thrilling and powerful story. I hesitate to call it a love story because the feelings that emerge between Vanessa and Mr. Taylor are hardly love. They are sexual and controlling, domineering and edgy, but not the prototypical “love.” Mr. Taylor and Vanessa have a violent desire between them. There is much force on the part of Mr. Taylor’s actions but it plays well into the woman Vanessa longs to let free. This is a very erotic, explicit and in some ways, raunchy story. That’s not a bad thing, but it may turn off some romance readers. However, I felt the emotions of shame, fear, desire, and scandal that these two created together were needed. Vanessa is blindsided by her lusts and Mr. Taylor takes control of that lust. It was truly a game between them on many levels, but there is a deepening of emotions and those emotions are what had me hooked as I read. This is a very different story and I would not recommend it for the faint of heart. However, the qualities that make it so unusual are what make it so compelling. If you’re looking for something out of the ordinary, A Game of Dress-Up certainly fits the bill.
