This book, It Had to Be Drew, is a quirky, fast-paced story of a family of misfit women, the Mrs. Andersons, and their years of negotiating family and friends and always getting what they wanted. The ‘Mrs. Andersons’ are not the main characters of this story; they just have their fingers in everything in the very small town of Snowflake, Minnesota.

Drew Grayson is the only lawyer in this town; his 13-year-old daughter, Ashley, and he live alone since the death of his wife, Whitney, several years ago. Mae Anderson had an accident during the 13th birthday party, and sprained her ankle; however, she bribed the doctor to put it in a cast and she told everyone (except the other three Andersons) that it was broken. Then she convinced Drew to move her into his house while she was in the wheelchair. After that, her niece, Sophie, had to come take care of her and Ashley.

This initial matchmaking scheme was just the first of many manipulative actions Mae threw at Drew. Sophie came into the mix and everything changed! Ms. Nelson has written strong characters, the main two as opposites, but each Anderson sister and all the other characters lend a specific trait that made the book the peculiar comedic love story it is.

This is one book that you will enjoy. It will bring you to tears and make you laugh! It’s a lot of fun!
