| When his mother talks him into going to a formal reception so the parents don’t have to, Adam Dellafield’s life begins to change. Ballerina Slaide Rivendall doesn’t fall at his feet when he smiles like so many other women do. Her actions unwittingly throw a challenge at him that he eagerly accepts.
Again Ms. Hart Stewart has given me a book I couldn’t put down. The plot, the characters, the dialogue are superb. Adam gets lucky when the lovely Slaide moves in two doors down with her seven year old blind niece and their kitten. But he’s a Druid. One would expect him to have even more luck than the Irish, at least when this author has control of the pen that builds him. The budding romance between the two faces one problem after another as some villain manages to get through every defense they put up. Adam is hit by a hit and run driver, Slaide is attacked in her dressing room, their dog is shot. We learn bits and pieces of Slaide’s and Becca’s painful past a little at a time. Each time we and Adam are drawn closer and closer to knowing their hearts. Ms. Hart Stewart manages to set each scene up beautifully. She works them through each trial using their own personal strength as well as the help of his family and friends. Just like we all do. That’s one of the most fascinating things about her work. Sometimes Druid powers help them but so often they’re just human. They’re characters easy to relate to. This excellent author always has great endings to her tales. I think this one may be even more powerful than the others in the series. It was so well done and so satisfying that I cried as much as I do at a great movie. To me, a book that can get me that involved is exceptional. I recommend it and all of the novels in this series very highly.
