Branwynn was bathing in a secluded pool. When she was finished with her bathing she realized a man had been watching her. He insisted on waiting for her to come out and once he touched her she had a vision of them together in the future. She has a very small croft that he goes to. He tells her he has business at the castle. Branwyn takes eggs each day to the kitchen there so he goes with her.

Llewellyn is more than attracted to the nymph he had seen in the linn. He offers her soap for her bath and she bathes in front of him after she makes him say he will not touch her. He doesn't touch her until he has her out of the water at least. He wants her but does not rape her and decides to go slowly with this precious gift. He goes to the castle to see what he can find out. He is definitely what he appears to be, just a weary traveler. The Laird's widow makes him marry Branwyn but instead of a handfast Llewellyn announces that it is a marriage in truth and she was his.

In EARTHCHILD Allie Bates weaves a wonderful medieval tale at it's finest. The descriptions of the cottage and country are magnificent. You felt you were in medieval Scotland from the beginning. I was unable to put it down until I turned the last page. The characters were strong and the story fast paced. Ms. Bates is an excellent writer and I look forward to reading another book by this author. I recommend this book to any who like the historical genre.
