Noisy Girl was an orphan raised by the White Fur People, an alien race, after the death of her parents when she was an infant. She had no memory of her own origins; she didn’t even know she was human. Now that the settlers wanted to open up relations with the White Fur People, she wanted to learn about the humans, about who she really was. Noisy Girl’s whole world is about to change. But will it be for the better or worse?

Commander Jeff Anderson's dream is to be a captain of his own ship until he visits Denahult to attend the wedding of his ex-captain. Then he meets Noisy Girl and things change. Jeff had never met a woman like her. While teaching her to speak English, he found himself falling in love. Could Noisy Girl adapt to life among humans? Or will Jeff have to give up his life long dream to have the woman he loves?

Jeff takes Noisy girl, now called Lark, back to earth to find out who her parents were. What she learns will change everything she has ever believed. Her entire life has been one big lie. Can Lark find her own place in the universe? Or will she be lost and alone without even a planet she can call her home?

Katriena Knights has taken a real life scenario and turned it into a romance among the stars. Earthchild is a captivating story that will keep you in its grip from beginning to end. Her characters are refreshing in nature and will remind us of the beauty in our lives we all too often take for granted. Jeff sees life anew through Lark’s eyes, but will he be able to find a place in the universe they can both fit in? Ms. Knights’ description of a future earth is very detailed and I could picture the cities and crowds. Her use of sign language as a form of commutation gives back simplicity in a future where hyperspace and Tec knowledge are far advanced. The romance between Jeff and Lark is a great reminder that when you love someone nothing else is more important. Enjoy!
